The Achronicae Project
You may have heard that Lucid Blue is in the process of creating a concept album. Now, before you shake your head and think, “oh no,” there are a few things you should realize.
First, in our case “concept” is not a code word for boring/weird. Instead, we are building an awesome Lucid Blue style album around a solid, coherent idea. The plan is that when we’re done, we’ll be able to hand you an album that not only has structure, but that tells you the story of yourself and benefits the world as a whole.
Achronicae (ə-kra:-nɪ-kaɪ) is a word we’ve crafted out of Greek roots to encapsulate our concept for this album. In a nutshell it refers to those things that are “without time”. As such, one of our purposes in developing this concept is to help fight a disease that removes people from the timeless experiences of their own lives: Alzheimer’s.
Now, we haven’t worked out all the details yet but what we can say is that once the Achronicae Project becomes fully operational, you’ll be able to help us fight Alzheimer’s as well.
So what is the Achronicae Project? The Achronicae Project is the name we’ve given to the concept behind the new album. Basically, the breakdown works like this:
We’ve set up a few ways you can support us in writing the new album. Soon, along with purchasing “To Make a Long Story Short,” you’ll be able to buy t-shirts, come to our shows, and even make direct donations. When you do these things, we’ll be donating some percentage (so far undetermined) of the revenue to Alzheimer’s research. The rest will go toward funding the new Album. Once the album is released, we will again donate a portion of the sales to Alzheimer’s research. This way, the percentage of your contribution that goes toward album production will be a sort of investment into a hopefully much larger donation in the future.
How will you know when everything goes live? We’ve set up a Twitter account, a Facebook page, a Myspace page, and this blog to give you all the information you could ever want so remember to check back frequently for more updates. And now, on to the concept behind the end result of the Achronicae Project…
The plan is that each song on the album will chronologically document a stage of life. We’ll cover birth, childhood, teenage years, the young adult’s search for identity, stabilizing moments like marriage and parenthood, mistakes of adulthood such as placing too much emphasis on money or power, the midlife crisis, elderly years, death, and then finally sum it all up with a song called Achronical Pananthropy.
Rather than following a single character through life, we’ve decided that each song will tell the story of a different character. This way, all the stories can take place within a 24 hour period.

Remember this album is going to be “pananthropic.” That means we need everyone to help us make it. We look forward to working with you!
